About this event

On December 21, 2026, the Sun reaches its southernmost point, tracing its lowest and shortest arc across the sky. This is the Winter Solstice, the longest night and shortest day of the year, the cosmic midnight, the deepest point of darkness before the light begins its slow return. For the ancient world, this was the most sacred night of the year: the death and rebirth of the Sun itself. Every solstice-celebrating culture understood this night as a passage through the underworld. In Mesoamerican cosmovision, the Sun descends into Mictlán, the realm of the dead, and must be reborn through the power of sacred fire and ceremony. The Aztec New Fire Ceremony (Xiuhmolpilli), the most important ritual of the 52-year calendar, was performed during the darkest hours to ensure the Sun's return. In Celtic tradition, the Yule log was burned through the night for the same reason: to carry the flame of life through the darkness until dawn. The 2026 Winter Solstice carries additional power as the closing ceremony of the Fire Horse year. The element of Fire has been the dominant energy throughout 2026, and now, on the darkest night, we are asked to tend the inner flame, to guard what matters most as the world sleeps. This is not a night of endings but of vigil, of tending, of the profound faith that light will return because we hold it within us. Three days later, on December 24, a Supermoon, the Cold Moon, will rise, the largest and brightest full moon of the year, as if the cosmos is confirming the Sun's promise of return with a spectacular display of reflected light. At Dynamis, we will hold an all-night sacred fire vigil, tending the flame from sunset on December 21 through sunrise on December 22. Through the night, we cycle through ceremony: rapé for clarity in the darkness, mambe for ancestral grounding, breathwork for inner fire, and periods of profound silence. At dawn, we greet the reborn Sun with yoga, completing the cycle of death and rebirth that this night embodies. What to expect: Sacred fire vigil from sunset to sunrise Rapé ceremony in the deepest hours for clarity in darkness Mambe circle for ancestral connection and grounding Breathwork to stoke the inner fire Extended periods of noble silence Sunrise meditation greeting the reborn Sun Light breakfast and closing circle at dawn Why the energy is amplified: The Winter Solstice is the pivot point of the entire year, the moment when contraction reaches its maximum and expansion begins again. Every spiritual tradition on Earth recognizes this as the most potent night for inner work, shadow integration, and rebirth. In 2026, this Solstice serves as the energetic closing of the Fire Horse year, making it a night to consolidate everything this extraordinary year has brought. Three days later, the year's largest Supermoon rises, creating a Solstice-to-Supermoon corridor of immense power. For those who tend the flame through the longest night, dawn carries the unmistakable feeling of having been born again.
