"Once in a Blue Moon"... we use this phrase to describe something rare, almost impossible. On May 31, 2026, we witness exactly that: the second full moon within a single calendar month, an astronomical anomaly that occurs roughly every two and a half years. But this Blue Moon carries special weight, it arrives during the Fire Horse year, amplifying its already unusual energy with the flames of transformation and momentum. The first full moon of May (the Flower Moon on May 1) opens the door to spring's full bloom. By the time the Blue Moon rises at month's end, we find ourselves in a liminal space, an "extra" moon that exists outside the normal rhythm. In many spiritual traditions, this quality of being "outside time" gives the Blue Moon extraordinary power. It is the cosmic equivalent of finding a hidden room in a house you've lived in for years, a space where the ordinary rules don't fully apply, and new possibilities can take root.
